We'll bring you the quotes of the players participating in the games throughout the course of the season Week TenRochester 18 Chicago 8"It was a good step in the right direct for our team. I think, for the most part we finally played as a team and everyone bought into there rolls and the bounces finally went our way. Now, we need to build on this and get stronger every game." Pat O’Toole, Goaltender Rochester Knighthawks Toronto 9 Calgary 7 "The game versus Calgary was a gutsy effort and a big character win. Our defense and goaltending has been consistently solid and our offense grinded it out coming up with the timely goals we needed. It was extremely important to get that win just to keep pace in our division." Jon Harasym, Toronto Rock "The game was a tough loss against a retooled team that just wouldn't quit. The score however reminded me of better times when the nets were six inches less in width." Pat Campbell, Goaltender Calgary Roughnecks Edmonton 9 Portland 7 "Last weekends game against Portland was hopefully the turning point of the season in Edmonton. We have been in a lot of close games this year and it was nice to finally come out on the winning side of things. It was the first time all year we played a full sixty minutes and had every player on the same page." Mike Grimes, Edmonton Rush Week NineSan Jose 11 Edmonton 8"We got the effort and start we wanted but unfortunately we weren't able to maintain our rhythm offensively." Jimmy Quinlan, Edmonton Rush Portland 13 Calgary 9 "It was great to get a win in front of our home fans against a very good opponent. Initially, we had a tough time finishing on Pat Campbell, but eventually found a way to capitalize on our opportunities. Dan Dawson and Ryan Powell are really starting to click. Overall, I think our team is starting to play with a lot more confidence and the result on Friday night was a reflection of that." Brodie Merrill, Portland Lumberjax New York 14 Rochester 11 "We had a tough night and New York really came to play. Vinc was on his game and their athleticism made it tough on our defense and our offense. We need to get our game together and come ready to compete this weekend." Stephen Hoar, Rochester Knighthawks Calgary 12 Colorado 9 "Sunday's game versus Colorado was a huge win for our team. After a tough loss on Friday in Portland and a slower than expected start to our season we rallied together and played arguably are best game of the season. Nolan Heavenor was very dominant on offence and owned the face-off circle and loose balls to lead the way." Bruce Codd, Calgary Roughnecks Week NineSan Jose 11 Edmonton 8"We got the effort and start we wanted but unfortunately we weren't able to maintain our rhythm offensively." Jimmy Quinlan, Edmonton Rush Week NineSan Jose 11 Edmonton 8"We got the effort and start we wanted but unfortunately we weren't able to maintain our rhythm offensively." Jimmy Quinlan, Edmonton Rush Week SevenSan Jose 17 Chicago 11"It was a great win for us. As a team we were firing on cylinders and got the result we were looking for. It was the first time since the overtime win in Calgary when we had everyone playing at their best." Anthony Cosmo, Goaltender San Jose Stealth Week SixSan Jose 12 New York 7"I think we finally put together a 60 minute game. Our O was moving the ball well and finishing our chances. Aaron Bold played great in goal and our D shut down their big guns. We were very happy with our effort and the result." Jeff Zywicki, San Jose Stealth "It was an exciting atmosphere for our home opener against the Stealth at Madison Square Garden. Unfortunately we ended up on the losing side of the battle, taking a 12 - 7 loss. Our team played a tough but Aaron Bold played outstanding in the cage, and we just couldn’t put the ball in the net. Bold made it hard on us only allowing 2 - 5 on 5 goals over the course of the game." Anthony Kelly, New York Titans "Well we came into the game in NY 1-2 and didn't want to get back into the position like last year. We played very well as a team from the goalie out. Everyone had that look in their eyes that they were playing to win and not to lose. I was mentally in the zone and wasn't going to lose that game even if I lost a leg. I was very determined in every minute of that game and was fortunate that the team was there behind me for 60 minutes. In the end our hard work paid off and gave us the win." Aaron Bold, San Jose Stealth Goaltender Minnesota 14 San Jose 12 "Going into the game against San Jose we knew exactly what we needed to do in order to get a win, and continue to prove to ourselves and the rest of the league that the Swarm are a team to beat. The game went back and forth until the end. We continued to play as a team and shared the ball on offense and managed to secure a win when everything was said and done." Ryan Sharp, Minnesota Swarm Portland 11 Edmonton 10 "The feeling going into this game seemed to be two teams that were fighting there way to gain some momentum for the rest of the season. As far as the game went, both teams played hard, there was a sense of urgency for both teams to get back on track. Even though we did not win, we are playing better, have gained confidence and feel we will be a lot better as the season goes on." Chris Gill, Edmonton Rush "It was a battle between two teams looking for their first win, with a playoff atmosphere. It went back and forth throughout and we kept our composure and let the game come to us and in the end we capitalized on our key opportunities. The re-match in Portland will be another battle and we look forward to getting our first win at home for our fans." Derek Malawsky, Portland Lumberjax Week FiveCalgary 13 San Jose 13"Against Calgary I don't think we were ready to play and got out hustled." Andrew Guindon, San Jose Stealth Colorado 12 Portland 11 "Colorado showed why they are the best team in the west Thursday night. We were up by three late in the game and couldn't shut the door on the Mammoth. They never quit and ran a great pick and roll to win it in overtime." Dan Dawson, Portland Lumberjax Philadelphia 15 Buffalo 14 OT "It was pretty fun to play the old team, I was pretty nervous at the start of the game but after a few shifts it just was another game. This game was a very good game, probably the best one this year in terms of flow and excitement. There was pretty much everything you want in a game, run and gun, great 5-5 play, momentum changes, intensity, fights and of course a comeback last minute and eventually OT goal. The East is the best I have ever seen it, all the teams have a chance every night and it is showing in the scores and outcomes. I hope that this does not change because after the year we have had the fans deserve to be entertained and to see some fantastic lacrosse. I only wish to play this game for many more years, I am having a lot of fun right now." Jason Crosbie, Philadelphia Wings Toronto 14 New York 10 "It was a hard fought game and they came out guns blazing, but in the end they ran out of gun powder." Ryan Benesch, Toronto Rock Chicago 17 Edmonton 11 "This win was exactly what we needed to get going in the right direction. It was a total team effort from goaltending out." Brock Boyle, Chicago Shamrox "I don't think as a team we can be very proud of our performance on Saturday. We are a very talented team that is not playing up to our potential. The league is very tight this year and all teams are filled with talent and there is no easy game. Each game needs to be considered a play off game. We need to regroup and prepare for a hungry Portland team. I know we will be up for the challenge and hopefully get this big hairy monkey off our back." Mike Accursi, Edmonton Rush "Great win for us on Saturday night, all around team effort, and we finally put together 4 quarters and came out with the result." Darryl Gibson, Chicago Shamrock "The win is huge for us. We got a couple of key guys back from injuries and suspensions that made our team a lot deeper. We were able to execute our game plan and our confidence kept building. Now we will have to carry that in to San Jose." Mat Giles, Chicago Shamrox Colorado 11 San Jose 6 "We completely got out played, from loose balls to obviously the shots. We have a lot of work to do and I think that our next game is a must win for us." Andrew Guindon, San Jose Stealth "We knew we were in for a battle. San Jose is strong all the way through their team. Our defense played a real tight game and our offense scored when they had to. Coz played a great game also. We know our next meeting will be another tight one." Gee Nash, Goaltender Colorado Mammoth "A couple of tough losses for our club. We felt we played well enough in some respects to win on Friday, but responded with a very poor effort on Saturday. We got beat by the better team in both of our weekend games, and we will learn from it. The good thing is, we have a great chance to redeem ourselves with back to back games again this weekend." Colin Doyle, San Jose Stealth Minnesota 18 Rochester 17 OT "This was a hard fought game. Playing in Rochester is not a easy thing to do. We got out to a quick start and took the crowd out of the game early. That was big for us. We went to half with a big lead but knew Rochester would come out hard in the 3rd and they did. They got some early goals and the crowd was back in and they had all the momentum. Once the game went to overtime Nick Patterson took over and we were able to muster up a goal to win. It was a huge win for us on the road." Sean Pollock, Minnesota Swarm "The game against Rochester was a game of goals in bunches. We started the game off with a nice lead and continued that right into halftime with the score of 12-5. After halftime the Knighthawks came out fired up and tied up the game with a number of goals in a row. From there it was back and forth with goals coming from both teams and at the end of regulation a seventeen all tie. Finally a couple minutes into OT Sean Pollock lit the lamp for a GWG to give us a 3-0 start to the season." Ryan Cousins, Minnesota Swarm Week FourBuffalo 17 New York 13"It's a great honour to accomplish the goals record...a tribute to all the great players that I've had the opportunity to play with over the years." John Tavares, All Time Goal & Points Record Holder Week TwoToronto 11 Chicago 9"This was a great win for our team. It was important for us to start the season on the right track. No easy task playing a very fast and balanced team in Chicago. It was a fourth quarter rally that got us the win. We have a huge back to back this coming weekend versus Minnesota and we need to continue our hard work to keep things going in a positive direction." Cam Woods, Toronto Rock "Our loss against Toronto is of course not the way we wanted to start the season but we are still very much optimistic about our team and reaching our goals for the season. We are not very healthy right now and we still had a good chance to win against a good Toronto team. I expect nothing but improvement every week and hope to have at least one extra week at the end of the season. " Bill McGlone, Chicago Shamrox "Chicago is a good transition team and we had our hands full. We played a good road game where we capitalized on our power play opportunities and Bob Watson stood tall in the 4th quarter to help preserve the win. I think a large percentage of games will be decided by two goals or less this season with the increased talent on the rosters around the league. " Peter Lough, Toronto Rock "I thought both goalies were solid. We need to do a better job on loose balls and special teams and limit our mental mistakes at both ends of the field. " Chris Panos, Chicago Shamrox Week OneColorado 10 Calgary 9"Both teams battle hard. It was too bad there where so many penalties called." Kaleb Toth, Calgary Roughnecks "What a game! We knew it was game one with new rules and the refs were going to call everything, that resulted in very little flow. That being said, Chugger was outstanding but I give our team, from Gee Nash out, credit for not losing faith, sticking to the plan and digging out a win. " Jim Moss, Colorado Mammoth |
