Week Five & Six

Calgary 13 Edmonton 8

"After beating Calgary at home the week prior, they had lost three in a row and played very desperate lacrosse. We certainly got off to a slow start and we all know in this league you cant afford to get behind by 4 or 5 goals early. Calgary has a lot of scoring power and a great power play. We found ourselves in penalty trouble, and their extra man opportunities turned into goals." Bruce Alexander, Edmonton Rush

Boston 9 Rochester 11

"Great team win. Man down unit exceptional. Defense was great. Paddy was LEGIT. Offense at times was great. Still need to put 60 min.'s together and limit transition against, especially on the road." Shawn Williams, Rochester Knighthawks

"The game against Rochester was a tough pill to swallow, we knew they were going to be a different team at home and they played us tough. We fought hard to come from behind and get the lead only to shoot ourselves in the foot and let the game get away from us and ended up losing, so we need a couple big weekends coming up to make up for it." Paul Dawson, Boston Blazers

"Anytime you can get a win over a quality team such as Rochester that is a great stride in the right direction for your organization. In a hard fought battle that could have gone either way, it was nice to be on the winning side. I feel as though this is a huge step in the direction that we as a team and an organization are looking to go." Ryan Hotaling, Boston Blazers

Toronto 8 Calgary 10

"It was like a playoff game on Sunday, it could of went either way. But it was good for our team to win a game like that against one of the top teams in the league if we want to do what we did last year." Josh Sanderson, Calgary Roughnecks

"When you play the defending champs, you have to play 60 minutes. Calgary played 60 minutes and we didn't. They took advantage of their opportunities when it counted. I think we can build from this loss and move forward to the second half of the season." Phil Sanderson, Toronto Rock

"It was one of the best games of the year so far. Both teams played well I'm just glad we ended up with the win." Kaleb Toth, Calgary Roughnecks

Edmonton 7 Toronto 16

"I think we caught Edmonton a little bit off guard. I don't think they played their best and next weekend when we head to Edmonton we'll have to be prepared for a tougher game. Blaine and Whip had great games and came up big when we needed them." Sandy Chapman, Toronto Rock

"Tonights game was another big win at home against a tough western opponent. Our offence and goaltending was again outstanding. It will be a different game next weekend in Edmonton and hopefully we can stick to our game plan and pull out a tough win on the road." Cam Woods, Toronto Rock

"It seems like we came out a little flat against the Rock, and with exception to the second quarter we got away from what our game plans were. Later in the game they started getting a lot of transition opportunities and the gap to close spread further apart as time ticked down. Toronto can be garunteed that they will run into a much better Rush team on Sunday that will be playing with a chip looking to split the series . The effort and execution have to be better and we plan on putting it out there 110%." Brandon Atherton, Edmonton Rush

Buffalo 13 Philadelphia 11

"When you are 1 and 5 in a 16 game season and are facing the team that is just ahead of you in the standings, we knew that this was a must win to keep our playoff hopes alive. Philly came out on fire taking a 5 - 0 lead in the first five minutes. That would of been the perfect time for our team to give up and call it a season, but we showed a lot of character and battled back to earn the win. The main reason for the victory was the outstanding play of Angus Goodleaf and our defence, who limited Philly to only 6 goals for the remainder of the game." John Tavares, Buffalo Bandits

Washington 12 Minnesota 16

"This was a game that we needed to win at all costs. We knew what to expect from them since we had just played them the weekend before, so we just stuck to the game plan our coaches had for us, and we came out with a much needed win to put us back in the race for playoffs." Ryan Benesch, Minnesota Swarm

"This weekend was a tough loss for us. We came out slow and not ready to play. The offense put up twelve goals, which I thought should have been enough to win the game. We just didn't play well on defense and the score showed that. Letting in 16 goals as a defense is unacceptable and we have to be better than that if we are gonna to win this thing this year, everyone on our team knows that. We play the defending champs this weekend at home, which will be a battle from the opening whistle to the end. If we come out like we did in Minnesota it will be a long night for us, but I don't think that will happen, this past weekend was a huge wake up call for us and everyone will be playing with an edge this weekend against a very good Calgary team who is on a hot streak." Kyle Hartzell, Washington Stealth

"This past weekend was a huge win for the Swarm over the Stealth. It was truly our first complete game by the whole team. We worked hard all night long and were backing each other up all over the floor. It was nice to see our offense set off for 16 goals with some big numbers being put up by a few guys. The game got a little heated at half time with a good old fashion bench clearing brawl sparked by Sean Pollack and Washington Stealth goalie. We were in control of this game pretty much right from the start and ended up winning 16-12." Ryan Cousins, Minnesota Swarm

Orlando 12 Colorado 5

"The win was huge for us. Colorado is a tough place to play let alone get a win. Our defence was incredible and Vno in net was amazing. They won us that game. When the defence and goaltending is that sharp it takes some pressure off the offence. We want to bring that consistency to every game from here on out." Mike McLellan, Orlando Titans

"We came out flat and never recovered all game. We can't do that in this league or teams will take advantage of us like the Titans did that game. In order for us to get out of this hole, we need to learn from our mistakes and move forward focusing on this weekend in Minnesota. If we can play with that sense of urgency like we did in our two overtimes wins, then we can compete with the best and work our way back up to the top." Jed Prossner, Colorado Mammoth

"It was a total team effort in our win versus a very young and talented Colorado Mammoth team. Our Defence was solid and our goaltender, Matt Vinc, was unreal. Our offence played a very unselfish, multifaceted game and were able to keep the Colorado defence guessing all night. Denver is a very tough place to play on the road, we were very pleased to steal two big points out of the Pepsi Center." ." Patrick Merrill, Orlando Titans

"Colorado is always a tough place to play so we knew that we had to be mentally and physically prepared to play at the opening whistle. Offensively, we were able to spread the ball around and get everyone involved. The real story, however, was the other side of the field where Matt Vinc showed why he is one of the best goalies in the league. Our defense was extremely solid and limited their penalties allowing us to keep our momentum once we got things going. Colorado has consistently been one of the top teams so I'm confident they'll get back on the right track. We just caught them on a night where all the bounces seemed to go our way." Ryan Boyle, Orlando Titans

Toronto 14 Buffalo 10

"It was a tough loss because we were right there in it against a very good team. We took some untimely penalties which came back to hurt us. If we end up missing the playoffs, this is a game we could look back at that got away from us." Joe Smith, Buffalo Bandits

Minnesota 9 Washington 12

"Much like our previous game in buffalo, we feel as a team that we could and should have won that game. There was no lack of effort at either end of the floor, the loss simply came down to us not burying our chances on Offence, and they did. We were getting our chances out the front door but weren't finding the back of the net. Defence and goaltending were solid, just need to score more than 9 goals to beat a team like Washington." Callum Crawford, Minnesota Swarm

Philadelphia 11 Toronto 19

"Coming off our first loss of the season to Rochester the weekend before we prepared hard for Philly to make sure we didn't fall to 3-2 on the season. Philly always plays a fast physical style of lacrosse but our offense was able to find openings well and capitalize on our chances." Scott Campbell, Toronto Rock

"I though the team played great vs Philly, we battled hard, and handled the athleticism and speed they clearly brings to the table." Stephan Leblanc, Toronto Rock

Week Four

Calgary 11 Edmonton 14

"The win against Calgary was crucial to establish good relations with the community in Edmonton. The battle of Alberta will continue this weekend and bring an all out war to be the top team in western Canada." Ian Crashley, Edmonton Rush

Minnesota 7 Buffalo 11

"The win was a hard fought game. Minnesota is a good team and we had to be at our best to beat them." Chris Driscoll, Buffalo Bandits

"This was a game that we definitely could have won and been 2-2. Now instead we are 1-3 and need to climb out of this hole. Our defence was solid and our offense got our chances, but couldn't burry the ball consistently. You can't win in this league scoring 7 goals. We need to regroup, learn from the game, and start playing like a desperate lacrosse team." Kevin Ross, Minnesota Swarm

Philadelphia 9 Boston 11

"It was hard fought game in which Cosmo does what he does and he shut the door on us. We played hard as a team but we made too many mental mistakes which turned into great opportunities for them and most of the time the ball landed in the back of our net. Hats off to Boston and their staff as they played a good game." Steve Panarelli, Philadelphia Wings

"This was our fifth meeting with the Wings in our franchise's two year existence. Needless to say, we are developing some familiarity with each other. Considering they are an Eastern team that we had already lost to once, it was a huge win for us. Cosmo was fantastic in the second half and gave our offense the opportunity to work through a slow 3rd quarter. Dawson really seemed to find his stride and that gave us a huge lift." Gary Bining, Boston Blazers

Rochester 8 Orlando 13

"I thought our team rebounded nicely last weekend after a sub par game in Boston. We were mentally and physically ready to play and it showed with our solid start to the game. I thought our offense was really clicking with a number of guys stepping up their game, and the defense and Vino played well to limit a high powered offense like Rochester's to just 8 goals. We won the faceoff and special teams battle and I thought we worked extremely hard for at least three quarters. We are looking to keep up that work ethic and play a complete 60 minutes this weekend in a huge back to back on the road." Bill Greer, Orlando Titans

"It was a very important weekend for us following the embarrassing loss to Toronto the week before. It seemed like we played with the same lackluster effort down in Orlando, as the score could have been much worse." Joe Walters, Rochester Knighthawks

"Big divisional win against Rochester. With as much talent as they have it is nice to get the W!!! Team really responded in the 4th quarter." Dr. Pat Maddalena, Orlando Titans

Toronto 8 Rochester 16

"Rochester gave it to us pretty good, which was a reversal from the week before. They got off to a great start against us and dominated the play for the first part of the game. I thought we did a good job battling back in the 3rd quarter to get within striking distance, but in the end we couldn't get the job done. Rochester played a very good game, hats off to them. We still have lots of work to do if we want to compete in the east." Blaine Manning, Toronto Rock

"After losing two straight, the Toronto game was almost a playoff situation, as we needed a win. The team came together and we focused in on each guy doing there role and to stop overanalyzing and just play the game. The defense played tough and the offense shared the ball, which we hadn't done the past few games. We all realized how good we can be, we just need to maintain that level of intensity. Looking forward to our game against a dangerous Boston squad." Joe Walters, Rochester Knighthawks

Week Three

Rochester 3 Toronto 17

"Not much to say about that game. You have to give credit to the Rock. They are the real deal and it showed as they totally dominated us in every aspect of the game. We (the Knighthawks) have to regroup and learn from that game. Changes I am sure will be made and we have to adjust." Chris Schiller, Rochester Knighthawks

"Well, we went into this game looking to see how we would match-up against a highly skilled and veteran laden team and were obviously thrilled with the results! Our defense set the tone early and played an out-standing game. Our offense took advantage of our opportunities and never let Rochester gain momentum at any time during the game." Bob Watson, Goaltender Toronto Rock

Orlando 9 Boston 13

"Saturday was a tough night, we ran into a team that was desperate for a win. I think we came out a bit flat being that we were coming off a bye week but thats no excuse for the loss. We'll put the loss behind us and focus on playing more consistant ball at both ends of the floor this weekend against a very good Rochester team." Matt Alrich, Orlando Titans

"Starting 0-3 was not the plan on how to start the season. Going into this game we knew we had to come out on top. The first win of the season is never an easy one, I think we proved to ourselves we need to come to play every night were on the floor, and never lose focus or intensity. The win gets us back on track, now we just need to carry over the good things we did to next weeks game." Brenden Thenhaus, Boston Blazers

Washington 16 Calgary 15

"I have to give credit to Washington. Their offence is putting up some big numbers right now and the scoring is spread across the board. From a defensive standpoint we aren't getting our stops in crucial times during the last two games and have been making too many mental mistakes. Our defence absolutely needs to play the first quarter against Edmonton with a sense of urgency and stop spotting teams 5 goal leads." Mike Carnegie, Calgary Roughnecks

Colorado 14 Minnesota 14 OT

"We started out the game well, got Colorado down to 8-4 but didnt capitalize and build on it, they capitalized on our mistakes and in the end that was difference."Jonathon Sullivan, Minnesota Swarm

"Any time a coach loses his job in profesional sports, the players need to realize that it is time to step up. I think we are getting better each game, and the 2 OT wins in 2 nights was a huge confidence booster for our club. We are a young, hard-working team and I am honored to go to battle with my teammates each night. Andrew Leyshon played out of his mind both nights, and the ball movement on the offense was paying off for everyone. Come May, we will look back and realize these were huge wins."Jamie Shewchuk, Colorado Mammoth

Buffalo 7 Edmonton 11

"It was imperative that we win our home opener for two reasons: first for our great fans and second for the psyche of our club. We came out and for 60 minutes were able to execute our game plan and play the style of lacrosse we wanted. We got great saves and stops all night long from our goalie and defense which allowed our offense the opportunity to settle in, get comfortable and on track." Jimmy Quinlan, Edmonton Rush

Buffalo 11 Washington 13

"There's no doubt they're a different team without JT in the lineup. That being said, they know how to win and will be a much different team during their drive towards to playoffs. Although we didn't play all that well for stretches of the game, it was encouraging to see us find a way to win the game. We're getting contributions from all 23 guys on the roster, and hope that we can continue to get better each game." Jason Bloom, Washington Stealth

"That'sa great win for us to keep the momentum going after a 2-0 start. We knew they'd come in angry and ready to play after dropping their first 2 games of the season so we're happy we were able to come out on top in a tight game like that. We continued to spread the ball on offense and when we do, we're pretty tough to stop. Our defense and goaltending was great again and made some big plays when we needed them. " Jeff Zywicki, Washington Stealth

"I think from these past weekends Toronto and Boston have now created a rivalry that will exist for years to come. With us walking into Boston and spoiling their home opener to the line brawl in Toronto, there are many mixed feelings among all of the players. It was obvious that we carried over the intensity from our great training camp into the season. Overall I feel that we played very well in the two games and hope we can carry that over into our home and home vs. Rochester. " Kasey Beirnes, Toronto Rock

Colorado 12 Philadelphia 11 OT

"First game by a familiar face with a new title behind the bench. Coach Govett did a great job getting us prepared for a tough weekend. The whole atmosphere in the dressing room was better. Everyone brought their A game. Leyshon was outstanding making big saves when we needed them. Nothing like a D guy (Ethington) and rookie (Gajic) scoring the OT winners." Nick Carlson, Colorado Mammoth

Week One & Two

Orlando 13 Philadelphia 8

"I know the players of the Orlando Titans could not have asked for a better first game in the new city. It seemed like the fans loved it and enjoyed themselves. Everyone in the locker room cant wait to get back down there for another win." John Orsen, Orlando Titans

"Well I thought that it was first off a great honor to be a part of the first professional lacrosse team in the state of Florida and the amount of people who came out to support their new team was tremendous. The team came out firing and I think we played very well against a good Philadelphia team and there were a lot of positives we took out of it. I am looking forward to continuing the season and continuously developing my indoor lacrosse game to hopefully become one of the elite players in the league someday." Dan Hardy, Orlando Titans

"First game of a new season, in a new city, with new fans can be somewhat daunting but we were able to all focus and put together an overall effort the team and more importantly the fans of Orlando could be proud of. After three seasons in NY playing at four different venues with unpredictable attendance its nice to finally say we are excited about our next 'home' game." Jarett Park, Orlando Titans

Calgary 12 Minnesota 7, Minnesota 12 Calgary 10

"We knew it was going to be a tough night opening up in Calgary against the defending champs, but after that loss we had to come back and put in a solid effort in order to split with them. We don't want to lose at home this year and to be able to start off 1-1 after playing those guys twice is big for us. Patty was huge in net for us on Friday and our offense was finishing chances like we need to be if we are going to be successful this year. The crowd was great at home as well, and we are looking for more of that this Friday against a good Colorado team." Zack Greer, Minnesota Wild

"It was a great way for us to open at home. Nick Patterson and the P.K was the difference. We just need to play that way every game." Sean Pollock, Minnesota Swarm

Washington 17 Colorado 8, Washington 15 Edmonton 7

"I think we have played two solid games so far this season. It all starts with our two goalies (Roik & Richards) who have been awesome. We are getting offence from all over the team so it makes us difficult to defend. Hopefully we can keep it going with an extremely tough weekend coming up." Lewis Ratcliff, Washington Stealth

Washington 17 Colorado 8, Edmonton 14 Colorado 13

"Obviously I am not thrilled about losing 2 games out of our first 2 games, but we have 2 games next weekend to change our fortunes. We are still learning about each other's games right now - on the offensive end, cohesive and efficient movement takes time to develop....even among talented players." Brian Langtry, Colorado Mammoth

Washington 15 Edmonton 7, Edmonton 14 Colorado 13

"We didn't start the season on a high note in Washington. It was only our 2nd game together (besides 1 exhibition game against Calgary) so we still had some kinks to work out in order to be familiar with each other. With any new team time is needed in order to gel. Washington is a very good team. They have numerous weapons both offensively and defensively and their goalie played very well and it showed on the scoreboard."

"You never want to go 0-2 to start off the season so this game was a very important one to us, and the most challenging. Back-to-back games are always difficult but we also lost an hour and the Washington game was a late one combined with the Colorado game being earlier we didn't have much time to rest. We came out of the gate well and were playing on adrenaline for most of the game. Both ends played well and our goalie stepped up and made some huge saves at the end of the game to maintain the victory. Our offence played well together, unlike the first game, and kept our feet and the ball moving. Everyone contributed and we look forward to another display like that one for our home opener this weekend against Buffalo." Gavin Prout, Edmonton Rush

"The best way I can describe our first 2 games is 'A team learning to battle together, and the beginings of building a winning chemistry as a unit' " Ian Hawksbee, Edmonton Rush

Philadelphia 12 Boston 8

"We didn't have a chance to play in an exhibition game this year, so getting a win early in the season was key for us. The win has brought a lot of confidence to our team, it shows us that if we use the systems our coaches want us to, and play as a team, we will have success this year." Brandon Miller, Goaltender Philadelphia Wings

"We have had a good first 2 games of the season and are showing signs of progress and improvement. We had a tough loss in Orlando against a defending eastern championship team but ironed out alot of kinks and showed our progress week 2 winning against Boston for the first time. Our team is coming together nicely and we are working on getting better. Coach Huntley and the rest of the staff are preparing us more and more every week. I am confident that we can have a successful season as we take one week at a time. " Bill McGlone, Philadelphia Wings

Toronto 17 Boston 7, Toronto 8 Boston 7 OT

"Well, it has been an eventful start to the 2010 Rock season to say the least. I feel we won both games against Boston in two drastically different manners, which should be a good sign. I hope that it shows that we can win ugly, which should help our team in the long run. The first two games were a great start, but they are just that...a start. We have lots of work to do, especially with Rochester lined up for the next two. They will be a good measuring stick for our team." Colin Doyle, Toronto Rock

"The OT loss in the ACC was one of the most physically exhausting games I have ever been a part of. Playing with 16 runners is difficult, yet losing 4 and having to play virtually an entire game with 12 was a challenge. That being said, it was the more disciplined team that came out with the win. " Gary Bining, Boston Blazers
