Kevin M. Neibauer caught up with National Lacrosse League Most Valuable Player, Athan Iannucci. It was Iannucci's first full game back after he suffered a serious knee injury in the offseason. Iannucci attempted to play in a game earlier in the season, but, didn't feel comfortable and decided to sit the game out. Upon his return, he scored three goals against the Minnesota Swarm.

So, without further ado,

Question So, Athan, how does the knee feel?
Answer

Good, it's nice to get back out there, I felt a little winded. You know, I'm not quite in game shape, you can train all you want but there is no substitute for playing in the game.

Question You were cutting good, almost looked like nothing was ever wrong.
Answer When you start getting tired, you start thinking about it a little bit more, but, it went as good as I could have hoped. When I'm playing, or engaged my mind is on the game, but when I am kind of floating on the outside, I do think about it a little bit. When my mind is on the game, it goes right out of my head, like that one goal I scored when I dove, I jumped off the right foot and landed on my knees and everything was fine.

Question At this point, is it more psychological than physical?
Answer You have to get your confidence back and take it one game at a time. First step, so I take it up from here.

So, the MVP is apparently back.
