Kevin M. Neibauer caught up with Kyle Sweeney of the Philadelphia Wings at a recent game and took the opportunity to sit down and speak with the rookie to get his feelings about playing in Philadelphia.

Question This was only your second professional box game, what are your feelings?
Answer

It was fun, playing on front of the home crowd. This is actually my hometown (Philadelphia), I was born and raised here so I have been watching these guys my whole life (Wings). Sweeney continues, "It was like the dream finally coming to fruition.

Question Where did you attend college?
Answer I went to Georgetown University. It was good, a very fun time and very competitive Lacrosse. Obviously, the transfer over to the next level is similar in terms of intensity, but it's a whole different game.

Question Describe the guys in the locker room, are the Wings a close knit team?
Answer It's amazing, it's a fraternity and a brotherhood in every sense of the word. Great guys, on and off the field." "They watch out for one another, in this league (The NLL), players change teams so frequently....these guys are so accepting, they make you feel like one of their own very quickly." "As a rookie, you don't know many guys on the team, but they are very very friendly and accommodating.

Question As a rookie, is it intimidating playing with guys like Tom Marechek and Jeff Ratcliffe?
Answer It's kind of interesting, I play in the professional outdoor league as well with the Barrage. So I am used to playing with some of the bigger name guys. It's interesting that I watched some of these guys play for fifteen years of my life, and now I an on the same team as them, so it's a little bit overwhelming in that sense.
